GOP Presidential Candidates Align At First Debate on Wanting to Abolish the Federal Department of Education

While the candidates traded jabs and had disagreements on some issues at the first GOP debate of the 2024 election cycle, they did agree on one thing: abolishing the federal Department of Education.

Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy stated, “Let’s shut down the head of the snake: the Department of Education. Take that $80 billion [and] put it in the hands of parents across this country. This is the civil rights issue of our time.”
