Lasso the Loopholes is aimed at closing campaign finance loopholes at the local and state level that allow outsized donors to be involved in school board races. We believe that every student deserves a fair shot at a quality education, and that our democracy should work for everyone, not just the wealthy and powerful.

Currently, campaign finance loopholes in California and other states allow wealthy donors and special interest groups to pour unlimited amounts of money into school board races, drowning out the voices of ordinary citizens and undermining the integrity of our democratic process. This is unacceptable. 

We need to level the playing field for candidates who lack the resources to compete against well-funded opponents, and ensure that voters have a clear understanding of who is funding each campaign.

Our Schools USA is working to close these loopholes and keep dark money out of school board races. We believe that local school board members play a crucial role in determining the policies and budgets that affect the quality of education in our communities. By limiting the influence of money in these races, we can ensure that these decisions are made based on the needs of our children and not the desires of wealthy donors.
